JAM South Africa was established in 2004 with the aim of providing school meals to South African learners. In 2008, when the South African government took over school feeding, JAM shifted its focus and began providing meals to pre-school children instead.
The pre-school feeding programme has since developed into a holistic Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme including teacher training, infrastructure development, and feeding. Today JAM SA provides daily meals to around 120,000 pre-school children across the country.
In addition to the ECD programme, JAM South Africa implements a range of programmes with the aim of providing food security, nutrition, water, and sanitation to vulnerable communities in a dignified and sustainable ways.
Current Programme Interventions:
- Education: School Feeding, School Infrastructure Improvements
- Food Security and Livelihoods: School Gardens
- Emergency Relief: NFI (Non-Food Item) Distribution
- Water Sanitation and Hygiene: Water provision, Hygiene and Sanitation
