Dogtown South Africa rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes thousands of South Africa's abandoned dogs via its website and social media platforms. It takes in ‘hard to home’ dogs from other shelters, with dedicated staff and internationally accredited animal behavourists working to rehabilitate these formerly abused, neglected and unwanted animals. This is achieved through constant kindness, attention, patience, training, behaviour modification, exercise, consistency, enrichment and mental stimulation. It also assists families and other shelters to care for their animals, providing more than a ton of dog food a month to those in need around South Africa. It assists with food donations through its Click to Feed initiative.
In addition, Dogtown South Africa educates and trains people within the animal welfare and pet industry through internships and applies its expertise and training to assist more than 30 animal charities around the country through its BarkingMadproject (barkingmad.co.za).
